Green withdraws appeal of McBee election

Shilon Green has voluntarily withdrawn his appeal regarding the results of the McBee town election of Sept. 4, 2018, according to a document filed in the Court of Common Appeals in Chesterfield.

As stated in the document addressed to the McBee Municipal Election Commission and submitted by Butch Bowers, counsel representing Shilon Green, “You will please take notice that Shilon Green hereby voluntarily withdraws and dismisses his appeal of the decision of the McBee Election Commission (“MEC”) of August 2, 2019. This dismissal is with prejudice, so the decision of the MEC shall stand.”

That Aug. 2 decision of the McBee MEC complied with the July mandate of the State Supreme Court that ordered the McBee MEC to count four contested ballots. That revised vote tally resulted in Kemp McLeod and Glenn Odom being declared the top two vote-getters for the two contested council seats.

It is expected that McLeod and Odom will be sworn into their seats at the next council meeting.

More information will be posted to Breaking News as details become available.
