School board adopts record $61.4M budget

Based on the recommendation of CCSD Superintendent Dr. Harrison Goodwin, the Chesterfield County School Board approved a record $61.4 million general fund budget for 2019-20, which takes effect July 1. The new financial plan represents a 5 percent increase over the current general fund of $58.5 million.

Voting for the new budget, which includes the fifth property tax increase in the past seven years, were board chair Wes Miles and board members James Sweeney, Dr. Wayne Chapman, Darin Coleman and Eric Dusa. Casting dissenting votes were trustees Jamie Wayne, Chad Vick and Robert Teal. Kim Burch was not available for the proceedings.
