A.O.
Smith adding jobs in McBee
As a result of corporate restructuring, the A.O. Smith plant in
McBee will soon be adding 20 more skilled production jobs to the facility that
currently employs 450 workers.
According to a March 21 press release by Chuck Wright, director
of corporate communications for A.O. Smith, the company will discontinue
manufacturing at its Renton, Wash., commercial water heater plant
effective June 15.
The relocation of the operations in Renton, which is located about
10 miles southeast of Seattle, to the McBee and Lebanon plants is scheduled to
start next month, with the increased production expect to be on-line at those
facilities later this year.
