Coach Arrested

Former Chesterfield High School girls’ basketball coach arrested

Former Chesterfield High School girls’ basketball coach Chris Clark has been charged with sexual misconduct with a 16-year-old student.

The 42-year-old turned himself in at the Chesterfield County Detention Center on Wednesday morning. According to a press release from the Chesterfield County Sheriff’s Office, Clark is accused of having inappropriate sexual contact with the female victim on several occasions while they were at Chesterfield-Ruby Middle School. The incidents allegedly occurred between December 2016 and December 2017.

Clark was previously dismissed from his position as head coach of the Chesterfield girls’ basketball team.

“We must protect the trust that parents have in teachers and their influence in the lives of our children,” said Chesterfield County Sheriff Jay Brooks, who stressed Clark is only accused and has not been convicted of any crime. “We must assure parents that the school district and the sheriff’s office will do everything in our power to protect our students. Inappropriate relationships between teachers and students can cause lifelong damage.”
